DVD copying programs are somewhat controversial. DVD neXt COPY is rather expensive as far as DVD copying software goes, costing $70 as opposed to the more typical $40. However, it is designed to accommodate the needs of both the serious movie archivist and the casual enthusiast who simply doesn’t want their favorite movie getting scratched or stolen. The user interface is simple and elegant, and for basic copying all that is needed is a few clicks and some patience. More advanced users will appreciate that the software offers users the opportunity to change or edit the copy, most notably in that it allows users to remove certain scenes or advertisements. This is a great boon to those who do not like the advertisements which have become omnipresent at the beginning of DVDs. DVD neXt COPY also allows users to remove region protection, enabling the creation of copies which can play on any DVD player, not just region free ones.
Overall DVD neXt COPY is an excellent high-end piece of software for those who are serious about copying their DVDs, or feel the need to edit out certain parts of DVDs they own. The simple user interface can be rolled back to reveal a vast array of options for advanced users to toy with, and they even offer customer support to allow users to get the most out of the software. It is truly an excellent piece of software that deserves the high price it commands.
